A ENEROUS AND VARIED LANDSCANE: ITINERARIES AND OCCASIONS The visitors who come to this area usually want to visit the places our coast is famous for: the Five Lands, Lerici, Portovenere, Sestri Levante, and Portofimo, which are landscape jewels protected by well organized parks; or they may want to visit the nearby towns, full of art, such as Pietrasanta, Pisa, and Lucca, which are only half an hour's drive away. In fact, our pIace lies in strategie crossroads between Liguria and Tuscany (the road to our B&B marks the boundary between these two regions) from which, in a very short time, you can get to different channing spots, appealing both for their naturalistic and historical features. However, beyond the most famous sites, you can discover a hidden soni in this region and you will be able to find it in our minor centres. The scenery of the white marble quarries in Carrara ( Fantiscritti and Colonnata) is quite unexpected. Lunigiana and Vai di Vara offer their rivers, mountains, hills as well as small medieval villages which deserve a stop-over as, here, you can still find a pIace made for myn. Castelnuovo Magra is one of them. Pla~ed at 189 metres above sea level, it funS, sunlit, along the hill ridge, overlooking the sea. From here you can take in the whole coastllne at a glance, starting from Punta Corvo, down to" la Versilia" and, on clear and terse days, as far as Leghom. The village is rich in evocative spots: narrow roads, stone paved squares, Thanks to the integrity of its hiUs, the top quality of its oil and wine, the high standard of its tourist facilities, Castelnuovo has been awarded the Orange Flag, which is the Touring touristÂenvironmental quality seal for the hinterland. gardens enclosed by stone walls, arcades, but also imposing and elegant buildings (palazzi) which bear witness of landowners and navy admirals of a time gone by.
